Van Gogh travelled through time, saw my fractal and RIPPED ME OFF!!!

Fractal Starry Night (2009) alt. title Enewetak Atoll of the Mind”

Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh (1889)

He even copied the little tree-like thing in the middle of mine. Oh, did you see the “moon” in my fractal in the upper right hand corner? Not as ostentatious as Van Gogh’s but it’s obviously where he got the idea for “his” moon. He did add his own little village scene in the mid-ground but I guess he didn’t know what else to do with my distinct horizon and he couldn’t duplicate my stunning fractal reflection on the night-time ocean that I did.

Granted, I had a little inspiration from others myself:

Just a coincidence that my fractal palette looks just like this last one: copper/orange; ivory/white; dark-black/bluish.

On a serious note… I think we’ve all stumbled across fractal images that bear a “family resemblance” to other, non-fractal things. Nature is full of iterated patterns and is itself fractal in nature; clouds, trees, landscapes, etc… Van Gogh just painted what he saw. That is, what he saw in his own Enewetak Atoll of the Mind.
