In an attempt to make a start in assembling this\u00a0write-up, here is what I have come up with&#8230;<em>The geometry of nature &#8211; Fractals &#8211; Order and Chaos<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The images which makeup this exhibition have been generated by a computer program which\u00a0follows the\u00a0behavior\u00a0of some mathematical equations that represent complex dynamics using\u00a0complex variables. The\u00a0behavior\u00a0of these equations is represented by the images where the\u00a0black regions are zones of stability and order and the brightly coloured areas are zones of\u00a0chaos.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8230;it is only in the last thirty years with the invention of computers and\u00a0high resolution plotters that we are able to enjoy the chaotic\u00a0behavior\u00a0in glorious and\u00a0beautiful images&#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8230;When we view the images it is as if we are in the presence of something cosmic and familiar,\u00a0and this is because many of the structures in nature and in our surroundings behave in a\u00a0similar way. The coastline, the structures in biology and botany, the\u00a0behavior\u00a0of\u00a0populations and economies, the meteorology, cosmology and the study of turbulence in air and fluids all\u00a0have elements of chaos which is essentially what we can see in the images in this\u00a0exhibition.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>~From Arvinder Bawa&#8217;s blog, <a href=\"http:\/\/asbawa.blogspot.ca\/2012\/08\/fractals-order-and-chaos.html\">Arvinder<\/a>, Aug. 27th, 2012<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><em>&#8220;Behave in a similar way&#8221;<\/em> &#8211;I like that.\u00a0 What we expect from a branching tree or a crack in the road is what we expect in fractal imagery because they&#8217;re following the same kind of rules and <em>&#8220;behavior&#8221;<\/em>.\u00a0 We are at home in both places because they are so much alike.<\/p>\n<p>Arvinder&#8217;s work is admittedly a little &#8220;retro&#8221; fractal folks wouldn&#8217;t?
