We&#8217;ve all seen fractal forms embedded in nature &#8212; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.miqel.com\/images_1\/miqel_data\/photography\/fractal_tree_branches.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">trees<\/a>, river currents, lightning, cauliflower, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.exterpassive.com\/naturewallpaper\/pictures\/cactus384x288na.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">cacti<\/a>. These forms are in us (as a nervous system) and right before our eyes every morning (the lines on our faces). That fractal forms, dating back to antiquity, show up in visionary and devotional iconography simply illustrates the maxim that art holds up a mirror to nature. Fractal patterns are often found in early <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rpi.edu\/%7Eeglash\/eglash.dir\/afractal\/afractal.htm\" target=\"_blank\">African<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.webwm.com\/w\/h\/frame0.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Latvian<\/a> art. Prototypes of the Sierpinski triangle appear in the 12th Century art of the <a href=\"http:\/\/i3.photobucket.com\/albums\/y95\/armyyouhave\/Ravello_Interior.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">Ravello Cathedral<\/a>. The structure of <a href=\"http:\/\/liberalarts.iupui.edu\/%7Ewijackso\/tempfrac\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hindu temples<\/a> is striking in its self-similarity. In fact, most <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kheper.net\/integral\/diagrams_of_reality.htm\" target=\"_blank\">spiritual diagrams<\/a>, from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dharmanet.com.br\/vajrayana\/mandala.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">mandala<\/a> to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.healingtherapies.info\/images\/Yin__Yang.gif\" target=\"_blank\">yin-yang<\/a>, have noticeable fractal characteristics.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">And, speaking of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.geckoandfly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/09\/google_billboard_chruch_answer.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">mysteries of faith<\/a> and art, like it or not, more contemporary fractal yin-yangs occasionally pop up &#8212; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.noisefree.org\/boomcarads\/docu0001.JPG\" target=\"_blank\">unmuted<\/a> and unwelcome &#8212; in our not-quite-religious and often less artistic tele-visual services: the pop communion of commercials:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i3.photobucket.com\/albums\/y95\/armyyouhave\/nikeglove06.jpg?w=545\" alt=\"Just frac it...\" \/>  <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">A sacred, self-similar Swoosh?<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">~\/~<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&#8211;Terry<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.eclectasy.com\/cruelanimal\/\" target=\"_blank\">Rooms with a View<\/a><br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/cruelanimal.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Blog with a View<\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Initial images seen at this interesting blog: <a href=\"http:\/\/mathpaint.blogspot.com\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Mathematical Paintings and Sculptures<\/a>.
